⚖️ Is your product ready for a Paradigm Shift?
Chances are it is, if only because someone in your organisation once shouted it during an off-site session surrounded by flip charts and catered sandwiches.
The trap with a capital T: getting stuck in theories that used to matter.
Ansoff, Porter, Kotler, Kuhn… The entire Hall of Fame of management models.
And yes, they work — as a base layer, on paper.
Use them to absorb ideas, analyse processes or give direction to communication.
But don’t let them lead the way. Because let’s be honest: not everyone understands them.
Even Michael Porter, the man behind the “Five Forces of Competitive Advantage”, saw his own company go bankrupt in 2012.
And then there’s the classic: the SWOT analysis.
For me it's been synonymous with Serious Waste Of Time for years.
Not because the principle is wrong, but because it’s often carried out by people who never actually do anything with it.
People who have no clue what’s happening outside, yet still get the stage to share a personal (usually unsubstantiated) opinion.
🚨 And that group panics at the T of Threats.
The part that inspires me, drives me and gives me energy is far too often brushed aside.
While that’s exactly where the gains are.
Whether you’re bottom left in the Ansoff model (Business Development) or top right (Product Management):
you don’t make the difference with diagrams, but with common sense.
😜 Theory is wonderful — as long as you still know why something was invented in the first place.
Because before you know it, a peppermint is no longer a breath freshener but an energy booster, calorie stacker, or purpose-driven breathing experience.
Congratulations: you’ve just achieved a Paradigm Shift.
And destroyed another product in the process. 😮🤬
